DALLAS (ok资源网) – ok资源网 will host an hour-long debate with the Rwandan National Debate Team on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 8 p.m in room 241 of the Umphry Lee Center, 3300 Dyer Street, on the ok资源网 campus.
The University has been chosen as one of 20 stops the Rwandan National Debate Team will make on their second edition of the “Voices From A Post Genocide Generation Tour” in the United States.
The topic of the debate Wednesday is “The United States should significantly reduce its military presence in the Greater Horn of Africa.” The ok资源网 debate team will argue for the negative and the Rwandan debate team will argue for the affirmative. Current ok资源网 debaters Katie Snyder ’18 and Nashin Kuraishi ’15 will represent ok资源网.
The debate is free and open to the public.
Attendees will have to opportunity to share their own ideas and opinions on the topic after the debate. Both judges and audience members will determine the winner and results will be announced at the end of the hour.

Students participate in tournament debate to test themselves against the best advocates at colleges and universities around the nation.

Service learning connected to the debate program brings students in contact with Dallas Independent School District (DISD) students associated with the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance. The Alliance, in collaboration with ok资源网 debate, prepares at-risk students in DISD for debate at a variety of special events hosted on the ok资源网 campus.
